My wide and highly qualified study and professional experience, as well as my extensive life experiences and my profitable ease in dealing with difficult, complex topics look forward to tackling your personal concerns and difficulties! The year 1977
I was born in the summer of 1977. That year, the company Apple wrote in the technological sector world history, because the "Apple II" was the first computer computer on the market, which was fully equipped with a screen and a keyboard. Many more innovative and life enriching high-tech inventions should follow today.
In the same year, the world became poorer by a great artist. The King of Rock 'n Roll, Elvis Presley, with his tremendous artistic energy, died in the summer of 1977.
My self-conception as a psychologist and psychotherapist
Just as the two selected events from the year 1977 see and understand my profession, which I perceive and exercise as a vocation. For one, psychology is for me a professional, life-facilitating technique in dealing with the human psyche. On the other hand, I understand psychotherapy as a mental art form in the encounter between people. With mental creativity, perceptible empathy and in mutual mindfulness emotional problems and interpersonal conflicts can be solved in the authentic conversation. With curiosity and dedication I have been dealing for 13 years with the experience and behavior of man between birth, development, realization and death.
Childhood, youth and creativity
My first steps in development I experienced as a child in the former GDR. In 1989 I became an eyewitness to the fall of the Berlin Wall and was able to witness how two completely different state systems, with much euphoria, tremendous strength and irrepressible belief, grew together to form a common society. Humans "create" life systems in order to orient themselves and to belong. But they are just as capable of leaving old ways of life and facing new challenges. The only thing we can rely on in life is impermanence. The changes are constant companions in our lives! During school, I actively shaped my life with sports and creativity with art, music, dance and acting! So developed from first gymnastics with diligence and discipline very good performance in sports. From simple children's drawings later professional graffiti orders for large companies and corporation. The first nursery rhymes developed in the Pupertät to professional song lyrics on the big music stage and in the German radio. And first attempts at school theater were completed in acting roles on German television.
School education, study and the family
After graduation and my creative time in Chemnitz, Cologne became my new adopted home, where I feel at home for over 20 years. After ten years in the television, sales, marketing and press industry, I took my diploma in psychology at the University of Cologne and successfully completed it. Today I live happily in the west of Cologne together with my wife and children, whereby our adult daughter is now on her own.
Career as psychologist and psychotherapist
My professional development as a graduate psychologist took place in the Federal Office of Personnel Management of the Bundeswehr their next stop. Here I was trained as a testing psychologist in the largest Assesment Center in Germany and have examined and selected more than 1000 applicants for the middle to highest careers in the civilian as well as military field.
After that I dedicated myself to the therapeutic area in child and adolescent psychiatry. Here in a hospital of the German Red Cross I accompanied many children and adolescents along with their parents and relatives on the way from the acute crisis with psychiatry instruction on the day hospital therapy care to the subsequent discharge back into an independent and self-determined life.
In order to further develop my psychotherapeutic skills, I subsequently worked at salus Klinik Hürth, one of the most renowned private clinics in Germany for addiction and weaning therapy. Here, as a reference therapist in individual and group settings, I have successfully assisted young adult patients aged 18 to 28, as well as their family members, in 3- to 6-month rehab treatments on their way to a drug-free and abstinent life. On the other hand, as a group therapist I led various topic-specific groups, such as relapse prevention courses and gender-homogeneous therapy groups, such as "Men and Addiction".
Self-employment in private practice
After all the extensive professional and life experiences, I decided to start my own business as a psychologist and psychological psychotherapist. For years there has been a shortage of psychotherapeutic treatment in Germany. An improvement of this deficiency situation is not in sight in the foreseeable future! Above all, therapy offers by male psychotherapists are very rare, since today there are only a few young men who create the entry requirements for a psychology study (NC 1.0 to 1.4) with their final grade. Even fewer male students then decide on the postgraduate training as Psychological Psychotherapist (duration 3-5 years, costs about 25,000.00 €).
With me you can get promptly a first consultation appointment or therapy place with professionally competent care, which is individually discussed with you and coordinated. In doing so, I have consciously decided, in addition to my therapeutic profession, to provide all my previously learned psychological and psychotherapeutic abilities. I wish for you a low threshold access to psychology and psychotherapy. This means that you do not have to see a psychologist when it is almost "too late" and your life situation has become an emergency. But please contact me early and preventively, if you already feel a first, unclear feeling that maybe something with you or your closest people could not vote. Because "talking helps!" And just a few conversations with a professional psychologist bring a first relief for your current problem situation and thus increase your quality of life. Healing on a psychological level, of course, depends on individual factors and requires longer-term treatment and support.
